Post office on Stilts- Floating PO at Lake Inle , Myanmar



The above Registered cover has been sent by another collector from the Ngaphel'chaung Post office at Lake Inle,  as depicted above. It is a Post office on stilts, and aptly called a floating post office. Inle Lake is a freshwater lake situated within the Shan Hills - with an area of around 50 square miles it is the second largest lake in Myanmar.
The post office is fully built on the water and supported by stilts. The postal code is 06807. The incoming mail from this PO has to be sent to Nyaung Shwe PO for further re-routing and distribution.  The mails to and from this PO are carried every Monday, Wednesday and Friday of the weeks by boat.
