First Pony Mail, Amarnath Yatra, India

During the Amarnath Yatra pilgrimage for Hindu devotees, provision for postal facilities to the devotees are now made by the Yatra ( Pilgrimage) post office. However, in the year 1964, a seasonal post office operated for the first time only during August 18 to August 26 , 1964. It was a mobile pony post office, decorated with a box placed on a specially made cushion. Postal materials were also made available. The post master used to ride the pony , whereas the postal attendant used to walk along .

Unfortunately, I have not come across any of the Pony carried mobile post office and will be glad to get at least a good colored picture of any such cover carried by it.
