Roads were often impassable in Gabon by postal vehicles because
of the tropical rains, and some previous services by coastal shipping links got
removed because of the World war 2. Services on foot and / or canoe are
set up at the beginning of the War as a result.
APRIL 2, 1942: A postal service courier walk was set up from Mayumba (on the southern coast of Gabon). It served in the inner tracks or along the beaches of the localities up to 200 km from Mayumba and comprised several days of walking.
The cachet marking "PEDIPOSTE" identify these routing modes (two types according to the centering of PEDIPOSTE word - to middle and top of the frame.
MAYUMBA - The word seems to have been affixed separately).
